Basic tuna sandwiches are my go to sandwiches for those days when I’m too lazy to cook. Many people take lunch to work as a method of saving money and eating healthy on a budget. This recipe is very easy to make and it does not take long. One small can of tuna can serve two people with ease.
To make my basic tuna sandwiches, you will need:
- 1 5 oz. can of tuna
- 2 – 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 1 small onion chopped finely
- 1 small tin of corn
- 1 small sweet pepper chopped finely
- A couple drops of lime juice
- A couple drops of hot pepper or tabasco sauce
- 2 submarine loafs or hoagies
Directions:
Drain and flake tuna in a bowl or plate. Add a few drops of lime juice to the tuna. Then, add the chopped onion, sweet pepper and corn to the flaked tuna and lime juice mixture. Next, add the mayonnaise and mix well. The pepper or tabasco sauce should be added to your liking. Spread the tuna mixture onto the bread to create your sandwiches.
The possibilities are endless with basic tuna sandwiches. You can also add lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, jalapeno peppers and many more vegetables to your sandwich. But I would suggest that you take them in a separate container and add them to the sandwich when you’re ready to eat.
