Benefits of Online Distance Learning

Online distance learning has grown by leaps and bounds over the last ten or so years. This is primarily due to the advancement of the internet and computers. Years ago, probably in the eighties, I remember my mother was doing a distance course via mail and it seemed to drag on forever. I also did a children’s Bible course via mail and it was frustrating because it took extremely long to get new books.

I’m now pursuing an MBA via online distance learning, and it is great. Not only do I have interaction with my tutors and peers, but I can also study at my own pace. I am still a full-time employee, doing freelance writing as well as managing this blog. However, I will admit, that time management and motivation are critical in order to get things done.

I absolutely love the fact that I can study from almost anywhere I please. When I was considering doing an MBA programme, I thought of hustling from work to class and then from class to home at all kinds of hours. And then there were classes scheduled on weekends too! I also thought about studying in another country, but I would have had to get a student loan and that was not an option.

Another benefit of this distance learning programme, is the price. It’s a lot cheaper than doing an MBA at the University of the West Indies in Barbados. And at the end of it all, I will have a degree that is accredited worldwide. I did not pay the entire course fee at once. Instead, I chose to pay per course which is quite manageable.
