Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I know that people will be going all out with chocolates, teddy bears and roses. The red and white is already making me feel nauseous, but I’ll put that behind me as I write this post. I’m not a Scrooge, but I think that you should be showing your spouse how much you love them all throughout the year.
My budget-friendly Valentine’s Day gift ideas are intended to help you keep some money in your pocket, but still pull off a wonderful gift and encourage the desired reaction from your spouse.
- Cook breakfast, lunch and dinner – Instead of making one meal, get to work and make three meals. This would be a wonderful gift and you are sure to get some extra kisses. My favourite recipe sites are cooks.com and Epicurious. The best part about this gift is that you will not spend too much money.
- Gift basket – This is one of the easiest gifts to make and you can make any type of gift basket that you like. To make a the very popular fruit basket you will need requires a basic, fruit, cellophane paper, red and white ribbon and tissue paper. Other basket ideas are beverages and chocolates.
- Plants – Giving a plant as a Valentine’s Day gift, allows your recipient to enjoy your gift for a very long time. Plants are very reasonable and you can choose from flowering and non-flowering. Some nice plants which go very well with the love theme are roses and orchids.
- Create an At-Home Spa Treatment – Thankfully the internet has hundreds of websites that tell you how to create the perfect at-home spa. You don’t need to get technical with your treatment. Simple treats such as body massages and foot rubs in a room filled with scented candles is more than enough to create a nice Valentine’s Day.
- Plan a Personalised Movie Night – Bring out the love movies and cuddle with your loved one. To make this evening more special, create little food tidbits for you to nibble on during your movies. Be sure to get a bottle of wine or your loved one’s favourite beverage.
With these five ideas, you can create a Valentine’s Day that your sweetie will remember for a long time. And if you’re really in love, you should try them spontaneously throughout the year.
