Lately I’ve been a bit obsessed with looking at house plans. In fact, this is where I seriously fail when it comes to time management. I can easily waste hours looking at hundreds of house plans and other sites that focus on interior design. I’m seriously considering doing a course in CAD, so that I can design house plans.
Where do I go for house plans? Various places. I go to dedicated house plan sites which give a wide variety of house plans. But lately, I’ve also been looking at real estate sites. These sites not only give you the layout of the house, but photos which also show design and decor ideas.
The information on the house plan sites is very detailed and specific and they list the maximum square footage, the size of each room and the roof measurements. There are also options to modify your chosen plan for a fee. In addition to house plans, I’ve seen duplex, multiplex, garage and shed plans.

2. Cool House Plans – They have a wide range of plans (including garages and sheds) and give you the option to modify your chosen plan
3. Real Estate Australia – Homes and properties for sale in Australia. Many of the properties are listed with floor plans which makes the site a hundred times better.
The search for house plans can be exhaustive. If you don’t know what you want, you’re at a slight disadvantage. You will be confused and overwhelmed by the different styles and square footage.You will note that sites like Dream Home Source and Cool House Plans also allow you to modify your chosen plan for a fee.
In my opinion, the most important tip when searching for a house plan is to have an idea of what you want. Do you want a small or large home; one or two garages, one or two stories, two or three bedrooms etc. If you already have the answers to these questions, you’re well on your way to finding what you want. This makes things a lot easier because you can use these parameters to search for what you want.
