Although women have become more independent and have taken a firm stance in the business world, it is still a struggle. Whenever I see young women establishing their own businesses, I am even more inspired and encouraged to focus on growing my own businesses.

How long have you been in business?
My business was officially opened in August 2011 but I have been designing for years.
What made you decide to start your own business?
I decided to start after I had trouble finding a place to print some labels for my other business (Miss Lady’s Cakes). So I started printing my own labels and labels for friends….so I registered and decided to make the work I do official.
What was the hardest part of starting your business?
Marketing was the hardest part. Getting people to actually know about what I do and getting clients.
What were your start-up costs like?
My start up price was over $3000.00.
How have you found your journey so far?
The journey had its ups and downs….mostly ups tho. There’s a lot to learn when you own and run your own business. There are mistakes you make twice…even three times, but you learn from them and try to avoid them.
What advice would you give to prospective entrepreneurs
My advice is to keep pushing at it. If it’s something you love doing don’t be afraid to go official. Don’t let the thought of owning and running a business scare you into never giving it a chance. As everyone is telling me, you have to spend money to make money. So you have to be determined and keep at it until you succeed.
